The Irregular Galaxy Pegasus Dwarf (also known as UGC 12613, DDO 216, A2304, Peg DIG, or the Pegasus Dwarf) is an irregular galaxy and a dwarf galaxy in the Pegasus constellation. It was discovered by A.G. Wilson in the 1950s. The Pegasus Dwarf is a companion of the Andromeda Galaxy in the Local Group.

1 General information

The Pegasus Dwarf is a galaxy with mainly metal poor stellar populations. It is located at the right ascension 23h28m36.25s and declination +14d44m34.5s in the equatorial coordinate system ( epoch J2000.0).

Pegasus Dwarf Spheroidal was discovered in the 1950s, but it was until Tully & Fischer (1975) to become know that this galaxy is part of the Local Group. The metallicity and the related distance estimate has been subject to discussions in the scientific literature, whith varying results.
