The International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA) was formed in 1972 to promote and develop the game of Women's lacrosse throughout the world.

Orginial members were Australia, England, Scotland, Wales and the United States. Since than members have come from across Asia and Europe. The group is attempting to increase interest in women's lacrosse in South America. Promoting all levels of lacrosse includes the IFWLA sponsorship of the World Cup and the Under 19 World Championship Tournaments. These events are held every 4 years.
