Industry Canada is a Canadian government department responsible for strengthening Canada's economy through investment and international trade and innovation. Industry Canada is also involved in the Modern Comptrollership Initiative . This initiative modernizes the management practices of the Government of Canada.

The Department is located at the C.D. Howe Building at 235 Queen Street in Ottawa, Ontario.

The current Minister of Industry is the Honourable David Emerson. The Parliamentary Secretary is Jerry Pickard . The Minister of State (Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario) is Joe Comuzzi and the Associate Deputy Minister is Carole Swan .

The former Department before Industry Canada was the Department of Trade and Commerce , created on December 3, 1892.
