Illusion of Gaia is the second game in the Soul Blazer series (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma). As in the other games in this series, the character ends up literally changing the face of the world as he progresses.
The main character of IoG is Will, a boy from South Cape, living with his grandparents. He stumbles into a "Dark Space," where he meets "Gaia," who tells him that he must leave South Cape and save the world from a coming evil. As he travels, Will gains the ability to change into two other warriors, each with special powers: Freedan, a knight, and Shadow, a form of solid fire.
The game contains several real-world sites, such as Incan ruins, the Nazca lines, Angkor Wat, the Great Wall of China, and Egyptian pyramids.
Illusion of Gaia was scored by Yasuhiro Kawasaki.
The European version was named Illusion of Time.
