Ignazio Giunti ( August 30, 1941 - January 10 1971) was an Italian driver who made his name in saloon and Sports Car Racing in the late 1960s. In 1968, driving for Alfa Romeo, he was 2nd in the Targa Florio and 4th in the Le Mans 24 Hours race co-driving with Nanni Galli.

In 1970 Giunti was signed by Ferrari primarily for their sports-car team and won the Sebring 12hrs and the Targa Florio as well as achieving several other high placings. His success earned him a F1 chance and he did splendidly to finish 4th on his debut in the Belgian GPThe Belgian Grand Prix is an automobile race. The first national race of Belgium was held in 1925 at the Spa region's race course, an area of the country that had been associated with motor sport since the very early years of racing before the turn of the at SpaSpa is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Liege. It is situated in a romantic valley amid hills which form part of the Ardennes chain, 27 miles southeast of Liege, and 22 miles southwest of Aix-la-Chapelle. As of January 1st, 2004, Spa had and raced three more times that year.

In 1977 he crashed his racer in Long Beach. and he put in some excellent drives to restrict Giunti's chances though he was re-signed by Ferrari for 1971.

Tragedy struck in his first drive in 1971 when his Ferrari 312 PB prototype ploughed into the back of a MatraMecanique Avion TRAction or Matra is a French company covering a wide range of activities mainly related to aeronautics and weaponry. The name Matra became famous in the 1960s when it went into car production by buying Automobiles Rene Bonnet. Matra Autom 650 stopped on the track in the Buenos AiresBuenos Aires (BWEH-naus EYE-ress, meaning "Good Winds" in Spanish) is the capital of Argentina and its largest city and port, as well as one of the largest in South America. The city proper has a population of close to 3 million, while the Greater Buenos 1000km race giving the popular Italian no chance of survival.
