Iain Dowie is a former professional football player who is currently manager of Crystal Palace F.C.. He was also a Northern Ireland international, winning 59 caps.

His playing career, where he played as a striker, included spells at Luton Town, West Ham Utd, Southampton, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace.

Having managed struggling Oldham, Dowie was appointed manager of Crystal Palace in the middle of season 2003- 04, inheriting a moraley depleted squad sitting 19th in the First Division. However, he managed them to a fantastic run and finished in sixth place in the then Nationwide First Division. This meant that they would contest the play-offs for a place in the Premiership and after beating Sunderland in the semi-final. They then beat West Ham in the final thereby reaching the Premiership.

In 2004, when discussing Crystal Palace's start to the Premiership season, he introduced the word bouncebackability in discussing their ability to bounce back from the adversity of their consistent poor form.
