Hvitanes is a charming little village northeast of Hoyvik and Torshavn on Streymoy’s east coast. It is located in a little bay with a stone-beach and a boat-harbour where the small boats can be pulled up a ramp out of reach of the sometimes-destructive sea. Hvitanes was founded in 1837. Nowadays people on the Faroe Islands are planning a sub sea-tunnel from Hvitanes to Skalafjordur on Eysturoy.
