1 Franchise history
The only notable history (so far) for the Houston Texans on the field was their 2002 win over their established NFC in-state rival Dallas Cowboys in their first regular season game. In 2003, they became the first team to ever win its first two season openers by beating the Miami Dolphins. However, although the Texans were the host team for Super Bowl XXXVIII, they finished with a losing record (5-11) and did not even make the playoffs.
Their misfortunes continued into the 2004 season as they were unable to do three in a row, losing to San Diego in their season opener.
