Home > Highly sensitive persons

Highly sensitive persons are people who are more sensitive to external stimuli than the average human being. It is estimated that 20% of the population is more or less highly sensitive. The result of this classification is often nervousness when the given person is placed in in intense social situations or near loud noises.

The term was first coined by Elaine N. Aron, who subsequently wrote several books about the subject. Her site has more information about these books, as well as general information on the classification.
