The Helena Brewers are a minor league baseball team located in Helena, Montana. The Brewers (nicknamed the "Brew Crew") compete in the Pioneer League, along with the Billings Mustangs , the Missoula Osprey , the Great Falls White Sox, the Idaho Falls Chukars , the Casper Rockies , the Provo Angels , and the Ogden Raptors . They finished 18-20 in the 2004 season, placing fourth in the Pioneer League. They are currently managed by Johnny Narron, and are affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers. Their home games are played at Kindrick Field. Probably the best-known player that played for Helena, Gary Sheffield, started his professional career playing for the Helena Gold Sox in 1986.1 History
The Helena Phillies joined the Pioneer League in 1978, giving Helena a professional baseball team for the first time in 64 years. In 1984, after a year when Helena had no team, the Helena Gold Sox won the Pioneer League. The team name changed to the Helena Brewers in 1987. Helena won their league in back to back seasons in 1995 and 1996. Brewers baseball went on until the end of the 2000 season, when the Brewers left. After missing two seasons, the Brewers returned to Helena in 2003.
