A hearing person is one whose hearing ability is close to or at the medical norm. Being the norm, it is not usually considered or discussed except in relation to deaf or hard-of-hearing persons. A hearing spcialist is called an audiologist. It is this specialist that administers hearing tests to those that require one. If a hearing test discovers a hearing impairment, an augiologist may prescribe a hearing aid.
