Gundam Seed Astray is a collection of stories taking place concurrently with the events of Gundam SEED.

The Astray series was two different foci, the Blue Frame Astray, piloted by Gai Murakumo; and the Red Frame Astray, piloted by Lowe Guele. Astray R[ed] follows the adventures of the Red Frame's pilot Lowe and his Junk Guild associates in manga format. Astray B[lue] follows Gai Murakumo and his Serpent Tail mercenaries in Dengeki Hobby modelling magazine.

The manga Astray follows both stories, but primarily focuses on Lowe and the Junk Guild. The final part, Astray X, is about Canard Pars, a failed Ultimate Coordinator experiment. Canard is in search of Kira Yamato, the Ultimate Coordinator, and along the way, Canard fights anyone he comes across. This brings him into conflict with Lowe Guele and the Junk Guild who finds a small boy named Prayer Reverie who has with him a power ZAFT prototype mobile suit.
