Grosse Pointe Township is a township located in Wayne County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 2,743. It is the portion of the village of Grosse Pointe Shores that is in Wayne County, and it is far more common to refer to the village rather than to the township.

1 Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 48.1 km² (18.6 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 45.6 km² (17.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 94.73% water.

2 Demographics

As of the census ² of 2000, there are 2,743 people, 1,018 households, and 834 families residing in the township. The population density is 1,069.8/km² (2,781.3/mi²). There are 1,054 housing units at an average density of 411.1/km² (1,068.7/mi²).
