Under the Alberta electoral boundary re-distribution of 2004, the constituency includes the northern half of the city of Grande Prairie and the surrounding areas to the east of the city. Its border with Grande Prairie-Wapiti within the city is Richmond Avenue and the Canadian National Railway. Clockwise from Grande Prairie-Wapiti, the constituency also borders Dunvegan, Lesser Slave Lake , Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock , Whitecourt-Ste. Anne and West Yellowhead . Other major towns include Fox Creek , Sexsmith and Valleyview .
The current MLA for this district is Progressive Conservative Mel Knight . He is seeking re-election in the district in the 26th Alberta general election.
