Home > GWR Group

The GWR Group is a United Kingdom radio company. Major assets include Classic FM.

Between 1996 and 1999 the group was a major shareholder in London News Radio, which owned and operated London's LBC and News Direct radio stations.

GWR is owned by Daily Mail and General Trust plc (majority share), various asset management firms, Sir Peter Michael and other small shareholders.

The group revolutionized local radio with its policy of branding its stations with a recognizable set of phrases, with the phrase "today's better music mix" replacing the name of the station on most shows. In this way, they are able to have a single show syndicated to each of the local stations in their 'Music Radio' group, with only the advertisements changing between stations. Today, almost all of the shows are mirrored across the local stations that they own, with the notable exception of the breakfast shows that are still presented locally.

Graham Torrington 's late evening show "Late Night Love" has been one of the group's most popular shows.
