 Contents
The 3600 LY7 (and derivative LP1) are members of General Motors' new High Feature (or HFV6) engine family of modern DOHC V6s. This new family of engines was introduced in 2004 with the Cadillac CTS. Holden sells the HFV6 under the name, Alloytec. The block was designed to be expandable from 2.8 L to 4.0 L.

It is a 60° 24-valve design with aluminum block and heads and Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection . Most versions feature continuously-variable cam phasing on both intake and exhaust valves and electronic throttle control. Other features include piston oil-jet capability, forged crankshaft and connecting rods, variable intake, and electronic throttle control .

Rumors say that the family was developed by Honda as a follow-on to GM's purchasing of the L66 engine from Honda, but GM denies this. Other reports link it to the Cadillac Northstar engine, though GM already has an unused V6 variant of the Northstar, Oldsmobile's 3500 LX5, which is extremely different from the HFV6. The truth, according to GM, is that this engine family was developed by the same international team responsible for the Ecotec, including the Opel engineers responsible for the 54° V6.

High Feature V6 engines are produced at Fisherman's Bend in Port Melbourne, AustraliaAustralia is the sixth-largest country in the world (geographically), the only one to occupy an entire continent, and the largest in the region of Australasia. Australia includes the island of Tasmania, which is an Australian State. Its neighbouring count, and St. CatherineThere are five St. Catherines: Saint Catherine of Alexandria Saint Catherine of Siena Saint Catherine of Bologna Saint Catherine De'Ricci Saint Catherine of Sweden. in CanadaCanada historically the Dominion of Canada is the second-largest, and northernmost, country in the world. It is a decentralized federation of 10 provinces and 3 territories, governed as a constitutional monarchy, and formed in 1867 through an act of Confe.

1 LY7

The 3.6 L (3564 cc) LY7 version was introduced in the 2004 Cadillac CTS sedan. It has a 10.2:1 compression ratioThe compression ratio is a single number that can be used to predict the performance of any internal-combustion engine. To calculate the compression ratio; b cylinder bore (diameter) s piston stroke length V volume of the combustion chamber (including hea and produces 260 hp (190 kW) and 252 ft.lb (342 Nm). The bore is 3.7" (94 mm) and the stroke is 3.37" (85.6 mm).
