Flathead County is a county located in the U.S. State of Montana. As of 2000, the population is 74,471. Its county seat is Kalispell 6.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 13,614 km˛ (5,256 mi˛). 13,205 km˛ (5,098 mi˛) of it is land and 410 km˛ (158 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 3.01% water.
As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 74,471 people, 29,588 households, and 20,415 families residing in the county. The population density is 6/km˛ (15/mi˛). There are 34,773 housing units at an average density of 3/km˛ (7/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 96.26% White, 0.15% Black or African American, 1.15% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. 1.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 29,588 households out of which 32.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.90% are married couples living together, 8.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.00% are non-families. 25.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.90% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
