Emerald ( Postcode: 3782) is a town of approximately 7000 people, just outside the urban fringe of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is within the Local Government Area of the Shire of Cardinia.

It is known for Emerald Lake (Lake Treganowan), the Puffing Billy tourist railway and the enigmatic Chris and Marie's Plant Farm.

The areas around emerald are excellent for finding chanterelles and other edible mushrooms, and are a popular destination for mushroom hunters each autumn.
