Edexcel is an examination board based in London, England. Its name is a portmanteau word derived from the words "educational" and "excellence". The board was formed in 1996 following the merger of two other awarding bodies: the BTEC and the University of London Examinations & Assessment Council (ULEAC). It is one of England and Wales's four main examination boards (the others being AQA, OCR and the WJEC).

The board offers qualifications at GCSE, A-level, BTEC, GNVQ, NVQ and VCEVCE could refer to two types of educational qualification: Victorian Certificate of Education given to students who have completed Year 11 and Year 12 of their secondary schooling in the state of Victoria, Australia Advanced Vocational Certificate of Educ levels.

Edexcel has in the past been accused of poor marking standards (and has even attracted criticism from the British government). It has almost lost its licence to examine on several occasions. In the summer examinations of 2004, Edexcel was hit by another scandal when it was discovered that a number of Edexcel exam papers had been stolen before they were supposed to be taken, and that the papers were being sold to students for exorbitant amounts of money (up to £1,000 in some cases). Edexcel assured the public that it was implementing measures to identify cheats during the marking process, and that they would have their grades cancelled.
