Eddystone is a borough located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 2,442.

Eddystone was the site of the Baldwin Locomotive Works plant, the largest manufacturer of steam locomotives in the world.

1 Geography

Eddystone is located at 39°51'34" North, 75°20'27" West (39.859345, -75.340920) 1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²). 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 30.67% water.

2 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 2,442 people, 964 households, and 607 families residing in the borough. The population density is 906.6/km² (2,352.6/mi²). There are 1,035 housing units at an average density of 384.2/km² (997.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 95.45% White, 1.76% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.61% from other racesThe United States Census Bureau uses the federal government's definitions of race when performing a census.
