During its 87 year working life, the laboratories had an extremely distinguished career; the laboratory can claim a stake in shaping the scietific careers of two Nobel Laureates, namely Lord Alexander R. Todd ( 1957) and Sir John W. Cornforth ( 1975Events January January 1 Watergate scandal: John N. Mitchell, H. Haldeman, John D. Ehrlichman are found guilty of the Watergate cover-up and are sentenced to 30 months to 8 years in jail on February 21 January 5 The Tasman Bridge in Tasmania, Australia, i) passed their formative years as young chemists in the laboratories.
The building is now used for teaching; all research in chemistry at Oxford is now conducted at the University's Chemical Research Laboratory.
