The title Duke of Queensberry was created in the Peerage of Scotland in 1684. The Marquess of Queensberry held the title of Duke of Queensberry until the death of William Douglas, 5th Duke of Queensberry , when the marquessate was inherited by Robert Douglas , while the dukedom was inherited by Duke of Buccleuch. In 1708 the 2nd Duke was created Duke of Dover in the Peerage of Great Britain, but this title became extinct upon the death of the 4th Duke in 1778.Dukes of Queensberry ( 1684)
