Dubna is a small city located in central Russia, approximately 120 km north of Moscow.

Dubna is best known as the location of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), whose purpose is to research heavy elements. The name of Element 105, Dubnium, is derived from the name of the city.

Dubna was founded in 1956. The population of Dubna was approximately 67800 as of year 2000 (this date is also approximate).
