Douglas County (standard abbreviation: DG) is a county located in the U.S. State of Kansas. As of 2000, the population is 99,962. The county seat is at Lawrence.

1 Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,229 km˛ (474 mi˛). 1,183 km˛ (457 mi˛) of it is land and 46 km˛ (18 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 3.71% water.

The median income for a household in the county is $37,547, and the median income for a family is $53,991. Males have a median income of $35,577 versus $27,225 for females. The per capita income for the county is $19,952. 15.90% of the population and 6.20% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.00% of those under the age of 18 and 7.30% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
