The District of Acre was one of the Districts of Palestine established during the first of the Crusades, and is now within the boundaries of the modern State of Israel. The capital was located in the city of Acre ( Akko), on a promontory at the northern end of Haifa Bay. The city was taken by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem on 26 May 1104, after months of heavy siege and with the help of the Genoese fleet.

After the Battle of the Horns of Hattin, on 9 July 1187, the city and surrounding district surrendered to Salah al-Din ( Saladin) and its Christian inhabitants were evacuated.

During the 3rd Crusade, the Siege of Acre lasted nearly the entirety of the Crusade.
