Home > Diner

This article is about a type of restaurant typical in North America. For other meanings, see Diner (disambiguation). Diner is an American word for a kind of restaurant. They have their own slang for communicating orders in a noisy room and a specialized architecture which may be inspired by railroad dining cars. The diner has become a focal point of nostalgic Americana, a symbol of the presumed wholesome innocence of the 1930s-1950s. Many restaurants and restaurant chains today (like Denny's) are trying to copy the look and feel of the diner.
