American Idol DeGarmo, Diana

Diana DeGarmo (born June 20, 1987, in Snellville, Georgia) is an American singer, the second place finalist on the third season of the reality/talent-search television series American Idol. At 16, DeGarmo was the youngest contestant among the third season's set of finalists; she was a junior at Snellville's Shiloh High School.

DeGarmo has been singing publicly from a young age; including at the 1997 Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards, and in stage productions of Annie and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Atlanta. In 2002, she was named Miss Teen Georgia and was a finalist on the NBC talent search program America's Most Talented Kid.

Diana DeGarmo's debut album, titled Blue Skies, is scheduled for release on December 7th, 2004 (see RCA Records).

Her first single Dreams was released on June 29th, 2004. It includes 2 other songs; her version of "I Believe" and a remake of Melissa ManchesterMelissa Manchester Grammy Award-winning singer who graduated from New York City's High School of the Performing Arts. Manchester, Melissa.'s "Don't Cry Out Loud".

Diana DeGarmo's first single sold 65,000 copies in the first week to debut at number 2 in record sales. Ironically, the number one selling single that week came from her old idol foe, Fantasia BarrinoFantasia Barrino is the winner of the third season of the reality/talent-search television series American Idol''. Barrino was born June 30 1984 in High Point, North Carolina. Barrino began singing in her church at the age of 5. She has a 3-year-old daugh.
