Devonport has a large port, but it is best known for the Royal Navy's dockyard. It is a major centre for naval refitting.
Devonport also has its own town centre, a swimming pool, a park and a sports ground, Brickfields, which is now home to Plymouth Albion, the city's Rugby Union football club. Plymouth College of Further Education is located there.
The Torpoint Ferry service across the River Tamar operates from Devonport.
