Crowsnest Pass is a mountain pass in the Canadian Rockies on the borders of Alberta and British Columbia. The pass, 1356 m high (4450 ft) is named after the Crow First Nation , which lived in the area. In 1898 a branch of the Canadian Pacific Railway was built through the pass, mostly to exploit the area's large coal fields. Today the pass is crossed by the Crowsnest Highway and an oil pipe line .
