Coquette is a 1929 film which tells the story of a flirtatious young woman whose father warns off her honorable boyfriend, only to cause tragedy. It stars Mary Pickford, Johnny Mack Brown, John St. Polis , Matt Moore, and Louise Beavers .

The movie was adapted by John Grey , Allen McNeil and Sam Taylor from the play by George Abbott and Ann Preston Bridgers . It was directed by Sam Taylor .

It won the Academy Award for Best Actress (Mary Pickford).

The Coquette was also a novel by Mrs. Hannah Webster Foster written in letter form about a coquette, or a flirt, who inevitably ruins her life by being so. The novel, written about 1797, might also have deeper meanings involving Federalist and Anti-Federalist ideals from a Federalist point of view.
