Founded in the 1952 by Rev. Everett Swanson to help children orphaned by war in South Korea. Today, Compassion International functions in 23 countries, helping over 600,000 children. Compassion equips children for the future by providing for their core needs--spiritual, physical, economic and social. By working with local church-based organziations, Compassion's program offers educational opportunities, health care and health-related instruction, supplemental nutrition, if needed, life-skills training and opportunites to hear about and respond to the gospel.
Child sponsors can communicate with their children through letters, and some are able vist the children in person.
