The Committee of Privileges of the Maltese Nobility is an association for deciding succession, new titles and general issues about Maltese recognised titles. The committee of Privileges if the Maltese Nobility started when the British Colonial Royal Commission decided which titles were to be accepted. The set up was in 1889 and also had sub-committees of cadets. Since Malta became a republic, the Assocation went into abeyance and was revivied nearly a decade afterwards.The committee was set up during a royal commission in Malta regarding Maltese titles. On is conclusion, 32 titles were acknowledged by the British Government for usage and also in the British Empire.
The first president was Lord Strickland who was also Count of Catena in 1889.
The committee now is an association due to Malta becoming a republic, though are retained socially to secure succession and heritage of what titles have become.
