Chris Martin (b. March 2, 1977) is the lead singer of the group Coldplay.

He was born in Devon, England, and attended Sherborne public school, followed by University College London (UCL). His mother was a teacher and his father was an accountant.He married actress Gwyneth Paltrow on December 5, 2003. Their daughter, Apple Blythe Alison Martin was born on May 14, 2004.

Martin has been particularly outspoken on issues of Fair Trade and Globalisation as well as a critic of President George W. Bush and the war in Iraq. He has done a great deal of campaigning for the charity Oxfam. When performing, he usually has the words 'make trade fair.com' written on his left hand.
