Chocolat is a novel by Joanne Harris. It tells the story of a young widowed mother who arrives in a fictional oppressed French village and uses her chocolate to bring joy to people's lives. Chocolat is the French spelling, and is properly pronounced (approximately) "SHOW - ko - LAH".The movie was shot in the village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain in Burgundy.
