Chelsea is a city located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 35,080.

1 History

Chelsea was first settled in 1624 and was officially incorporated in 1739.

2 Geography

Chelsea is located at 42°23'47" North, 71°2'1" West (42.396382, -71.033529) 1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.4 km² (2.5 mi²). 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 11.69% water.

3 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 35,080 people, 11,888 households, and 7,608 families residing in the city. The population density is 6,184.7/km² (16,036.8/mi²).
