Charlevoix County is a county located in the U.S. State of Michigan. As of 2000, the population is 26,090. Its county seat is Charlevoix 6.
As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 26,090 people, 10,400 households, and 7,311 families residing in the county. The population density is 24/km˛ (63/mi˛). There are 15,370 housing units at an average density of 14/km˛ (37/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 96.31% White, 0.17% Black or African American, 1.54% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 1.25% from two or more races. 1.04% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 10,400 households out of which 31.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.40% are married couples living together, 8.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.80% are non-families. 25.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.96.
