Charles IV Leopold ( April 3 1643April 18 1690), was Duke of Lorraine between 1661 and 1669, when the region of Lorraine was annexed by France under the control of Louis XIV. He found refuge with the Habsburgs and in 1678 married archduchess Eleanor Maria Josepha of Austria (1653-1697), daughter of Ferdinand III, Holy Roman Emperor and dowager queen of Poland.
