Cartoon Planet was a 1995 spin-off of the successful talk show series in which Space Ghost recruits Zorak and the virtually then-unknown Brak, former member of the Council of Doom (team of villains from the original '60s Hanna-Barbera Space Ghost action cartoon), who now seems to be borderline mentally retarded, to assist him in hosting his own cartoon show on the Cartoon Planet. Missing from the Space Ghost: Coast to Coast line-up is Moltar, who still appeared on Space Ghost: Coast to Coast as the director.

Cartoon Planet guised itself almost like a hokey public broadcast after school special, with the clichéd "mailbag", in which Space Ghost displayed his hard time of reading, classic cartoon interludes, and strange conversations among the hosts. Definitely a toned-down version of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, but still eerie at the same time. Also, the cast would break out into song with strangely edited music videos. This spawned off two soundtrack albums, Space Ghost's Musical Bar-B-Que: Featuring 25 Hickory-Smoked Harmonies and Space Ghost's Surf & Turf: With 22 Tiki-Torched Tunes. Both albums were very well known amongst an early Space Ghost / Brak cult following.
