Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) is the national governing body of university sport in Canada. The CIS is comprised of the majority of degree granting universities in the country. The USA equivalent to the CIS is the NCAA.

The Canadian Interuniversity Athletics Union (CIAU) was founded in 1906. In June 2001, members of the CIAU voted to change the organization's name to CIS.

Men's sports: basketball, cross country, Canadian football, ice hockey, soccer, swimming, track & field, volleyball and wrestling.

Women's sports: basketball, cross country, field hockey, ice hockey, rugby union, soccer, swimming, track & field, volleyball and wrestling.

The member universities of the CIS are further organized into four regional associations. In some of these sports, these associations are the basis of divisional alignment, and thus are sometimes called conferences.

When two nicknames are given for a school, the first is used for men's teams and the second is used for women's teams, unless otherwise indicated.

2.1 Atlantic University Sport

The Atlantic Universities Athletics Association was founded in 19741974 is a common year starting on Tuesday (click on link for calendar). Events January-February January 5 Dungeons & Dragons officially released. February 4 Patricia Hearst, the 19 year old granddaughter of publisher William Randolph Hearst, is kidnapped, with the merging of the Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Atlantic Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Prior to the acceptance of the Memorial University of NewfoundlandMemorial University of Newfoundland popularly known as "MUN", is a comprehensive university located in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. There is currently debate over changing the name to Memorial University following the change in official name of the p, the former association, which dates back to the late 19th century, the AIAA was known as the Maritime Intercollegiate Athletic Association. In 1999, the AUAA changed its name to Atlantic University Sport.

The AUS's Canadian football conference is generally referred to as the Atlantic University Football Conference.

The Jewett Trophy is awarded to the championship Canadian football team from the AUS. From 1956 to 2001, the AUS has also hosted the Atlantic Bowl, one of the two national semifinal bowl games.
