Cadillac Mountain is the highest point on the Eastern Seaboard of North America. It is located in Bar Harbor, Maine, within Acadia National Park. The mountain was formerly named Green Mountain when Mount Desert Island was owned by John D. RockefellerJohn Davison Rockefeller ( July 8, 1839 May 23, 1937) was an American capitalist and philanthropist. He was born in Richford, New York, the second of the six children to William Avery Rockefeller ( November 13, 1810 May 11, 1906) and his wife Eliza Daviso. The mountain was renamed in 1918Events January January 8 President Woodrow Wilson announces his " Fourteen Points" for the aftermath of World War I. There are various routes to the summit, some more challenging than others. There is also a paved road to the top.

Cadillac may be the first American location to see the sun rise each day. This is disputed by some who believe the sun first shines in Lubec, MaineLubec is a town located in Washington County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,652. Lubec is the easternmost town in the United States (see Extreme Points.
