The Buick Skylark is a passenger car produced by General Motors. The model was made in three production runs. In each production, the car design varied quite dramatically. This was due to changing technology, changing tastes, and new standards being implemented over the years. These ran through the model years: 1953-1954, 1961-1972, 1980-1985, and 1987-1998.1 1953-1954

2 1961-1972
- Intermediate ("Full size" car according to U.S. EPA standards)
- 215 V8, 300 V8, 340 V8, 350 V8, 401 V8 & 455 V8 in³ (3.5, 4.9, 5.6, 5.7, 6.5, 7.4 L) V-8 engines (depending on model year)
- Beginning in '64 the Skylark series included the Gran Sport (GS) package, which made the Skylark into a muscle car.

The short-running 1980 to 1985 Skylark shared GM's new X-body architecture with the Chevrolet Citation.

5 1987-1998
A new compact Skylark debuted for 1987. It used the same N-body platform shared by Oldsmobile CutlassThe Oldsmobile Cutlass is a type of automobile made by General Motors. The Cutlass was introduced in 1961 as a unibody compact car competing with the Ford Falcon and Plymouth Valiant. Over the years, the Cutlass name was used by Oldsmobile as almost a sub and Oldsmobile AchievaThe Oldsmobile Achieva was a sibling to such cars as the Pontiac Grand Am and Buick Skylark. Its first model year was 1992. At first, there were many models and engines to choose from, but by the time production ended, there were only two engine choices l. Some Skylarks were rebadged as the Somerset or Skylark-GS with the V6 option, depending on model year. The car was available as a sedan or coupe, but coupe option discontinued in 199?.

- 1990-1993 3800The 3800 family is a large V6 engine used by General Motors. The name refers to the 3. 8 in bore of the cylinders, not the 3. 8 L displacement of the most popular variant of the engine. The block is made of cast iron and all 3800s use 2-valve pushrod iron 3.3 L (204 in³) V6
