Bourges (pop. 76,000) is a city in central France. It is the préfecture ( capital) of the département of Cher, and was also the capital of the former province of Berry.

Bourges is located on the Yèvre river.

Its Gothic cathedral (built 11951255) has been added to the list of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1992.
