Bitpop is a type of electronic music, where at least part of the music is made using old 8-bit computers or game consoles. Popular choices are the Commodore 64 and Game Boy. A major publisher of bitpop is Bleepstreet Records . Examples of bands in the genre are , Machinae Supremacy, Pluxus, Puss, Monster & Maskiner , 1987 , GOTO80 , Covox , Pontonius , and Slagsmålsklubben .

(The name is a pun on britpop -- much bitpop is made in Britain -- and bit.)

Related to bitpop are groups that write chip music such as YM Rockerz , and AY Riders .
