Home > Billy Whizz

Billy Whizz is a fictional character who has his own comic strip in the UK comic The Beano. The strip revolves around Billy, a boy who can run extraordinarily fast. He also has a younger brother, called Alfie Whizz, although he does not share Billy's speed. It first appeared in issue 1139 of The Beano, dated 16 May 1964. It replaced The Country Cuzzins .

The strip was drawn by Malcolm Judge , who had drawn Colonel Crackpot's Circus before this, another comic strip in The Beano. After his death in 1989 he was succeeded by Vic Neill , although Trevor Metcalfe occasionally drew him during this time. G. Hall took over after Vic Neill died in the early 2000s, and the strip is currently drawn by Wayne Thompson , who also draws Joe Jitsu in the same comic.

Because of the comic strip, "Billy Whizz" is also British slang for the restricted drug amphetamine (aka "speed").
