Beta Theta Pi (ΒΘΠ) is an international college social fraternity founded in 1839 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, USA. Beta, as it is nicknamed, has over 120 chapters and colonies in the United States and Canada. Today Beta Theta Pi has 6,500 undergraduate members, and 118,000 living initiates. Beta's international headquarters is located in Oxford, Ohio

Beta's form of greeting, commonly used in closing in letters, is written as ___kai___ (spoken as "Phi kai Phi"), kai merely being the greek word for "and" and Phi being the first initial of two words. It also serves as their secret password, the two blanks being words that are never to be written down or spoken to nonmembers.
