In 1985 the Police implemented UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's wishes to not only stop the Stonehenge free festival but also to clamp down on all forms of alternative culture and resistance (as also witnessed with the 'Miner's strikes'). The police action came to be called the Battle of the Beanfield and left mental scars some of which have not healed. Photos and film footage soon circulated and has left a deep distrust amongst some of the people who would like to visit Stonehenge for their religion.

The atmosphere in the overnight camp was electric.

An hour later it ran into a police roadblock that successfully fooled the Peace Convoy into driving into a beanfield rather than staying on the road. 300 hippies trapped in this beanfield for several hours. Planet Earth orbits the Sun. Other bodies that orbit the Sun include other planets, asteroids, meteoroids, comets and dust. Not all objects passing through the solar system have been orbitally capt at the helicopter, forcing it to back off. Around 4pm the police charged. Many tried to flee across the next beanfield, though the only ones who escaped arrest were those who could not flee because 3 of the buses had broken down.
