Barrow-in-Furness is a town in Cumbria, England. It is the main town in the borough of Barrow-in-Furness. The population is approximately 65 000

Barrow dates from the 19th century and owes its existence to shipbuilding. It is one of the few remaining shipyards in the UK that has the capacity to build nuclear submarines. Iron ore was also mined in the district and exported from the docks.

Barrow-in-Furness is located at 54°07'00" North, 03°14'00" West (54.1167, -3.2333) 1.

It is situated on Morecombe Bay facing Walney island , a part of which is connected with the borough. Twenty minutes away is the English Lake District.
