Home > Aviemore

Aviemore is a tourist resort in Morayshire, in the highlands of Strathspey, Scotland, popular for skiing and other winter sports, and for hill-walking in the Cairngorm Mountains.

It is the first skiing resort to be established in Scotland and is also notable for having a freely grazing reindeer herd, the only one in Britain.

The village was transformed in the 1960s by large developments for the tourist industry.

Aviemore lies on the A9 Inverness to Perth Road. It has a railway station and also is at one end of the Strathspey Railway, a "heritage" steam railway.
