Avenue D in Alphabet City is Manhattan’s easternmost named avenue, though several thoroughfares (the FDR Drive , for instance) are closer to the East River. The avenue runs between 14th Street and 2nd Street , and continues south of 2nd Street as Columbia Street .

Avenue D is also the name of a two-girl rap band based out of New York City, proteges of Larry Tee who also perform for his electroclash parties. They achieved moderate success (mostly in the gay community) because of their sexually explicit songs and live performances, particularly their two singles "Slut" and "Punk Rock Song." www.avenued.com
