Ford bought 50% of the plant back, and it built the Ford Mondeo-derived Mercury Cougar. It now produces the Mazda Mazda6 and is scheduled to assemble the next version of the Ford Mustang in 2005.The plant opened in September of 1997 as Mazda Motor Manufacturing (USA).
